Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Barnett has announced he would like to re-new his contract at the end of the season.

The youngster won a one year deal after impressing on trial for Rovers this summer. A couple of weeks back the media reported that the young midfielder was attracting interest from Championship and League One clubs the player has reacted positively and has said he is more focused on developing his game but is keen to secure a new contract.

Barnett who recently turned 20 has impressed Tranmere fans this season and scored a stunning goal away at Oldham last month which was only his 2nd senior goal. The youngster told the Liverpool Echo :

‘Hopefully I will get a new contract but at the moment my focus is on trying to stay in the team. This is my first decent run and I want to keep myself in there.’

With over 15 senior players out of contract at the end of the season, Rovers fans will be hoping the talented youngster will be one who will not leave the club when his deal expires.
