Tranmere Rovers are traveling to Leicester City’s Walkers Stadium for their third match of the 2008/09 season. It will be a test for Ronnie Moore’s men but who knows what will happen? It is league One after all.

Vital Quotes:

Ronnie Moore:

They’ve got a nice mix of players there, a bit of experience, a bit of youth and a bit of pace.’

‘We know we’re not firing on all cylinders at the moment, but it is coming.’

‘It’s one of those games where we might be under pressure, and perhaps you have to look a bit more defensively at who your attackers are. We have to be counter attacking, and we can do that. They’ve got plenty of pace and their two wide men will test our back four. There are times when we might have to be more defensive and this might be one of them.’

Leicester City Team News:

Leicester City have had a steady start to League One but I am sure they had wished for a better one. The opening day victory over MK Dons was just what the Foxes fans had expected but the 0-0 draw away at Stockport will have come as a shock to many at the Midlands club.

Player to watch: Fryatt

Matty Fryatt will be the key to Leicester’s success on Saturday. He has started the season well but scoring two goals in the foxes opener but when he dried up last Saturday, Leicester failed to win.

Tranmere Rovers Team News:

Ronnie Moore has a full squad to pick from in the build up to this tricky match except for his son Ian who is suffering from a viral infection. It is expected that Tranmere will sit back in this one and defend hoping that they can gain some luck from the counter attack.

Player to watch: Coyne

Danny Coyne will be the Rovers’ main man on Saturday afternoon. The Welsh stopper’s former employers will keep him busy with their pacey attacks. I am sure he will be able to cope with the pressure though.

Match Facts & Stats

Tranmere have only come up against Leicester 12 times previously. Perhaps the most memorable of those meetings was in the final of the Wortghington Cup when Leicester ran out winners by two goals to one back in 2000.

The head to heads read 6-3 in Leicester’s favour.

Match Prediction:

I think that Tranmere will be under alot of pressure during this game and the only result I can see is a defeat. Most probably a heavy one. I can however, see a goal for Craig Curran.
